My name is Josephine Murray-Smith. Dip Couns, Dip Hyp.
I am currently working towards my MSC in Transactional Analysis, Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a member of the ITA and of the NGH and I abide by the code of ethics of these organisations.

I worked in the voluntary sector in Edinburgh before I set up my private practice, and in my work I have had experience of a wide range of clients with differing issues.

I recognize that the journey through life is not always an easy one. At times life's challenges can be overwhelming and relationships can be difficult to maintain. I can provide a safe and confidential environment to discuss and explore issues and problems.

Counselling and Psychotherapy is about examining your life and improving it by changing unhelpful and harmful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour. It is also about examining your ways of relating to others with a view to improving your relationships, thereby ensuring that your life is more fulfilling.

Hypnotherapy can help you to access the parts of your unconscious mind where a lot of your past experiences are stored away. This can be a way to rapidly change old habits and patterns. It is of particular help when you want to stop smoking.

I work with clients with varying issues ranging from anxiety, depression, sexual problems and relationship problems. I also see couples who are going through difficult times. I use the precepts of Transactional Analysis in my work, but can also work with cognitive behavioural techniques when necessary.

It is my firm belief that there is always hope - no matter how dark and bleak life seems at times.
I believe that people can change and grow, and I can offer support through that period of change.
I am non judgemental and everything we discuss is confidential.
